Why?
A successful School Nutrition Program is dependent on a knowledgeable and competent Food Service Director. This orientation will provide critical information to help new (and aspiring) school Food Service Directors and/or those responsible for Food Service Operations be successful in their new position.
Who?
New School Foodservice Directors or those planning to take a School Foodservice Director position within the next 2 years. This training is also open to other school administrators who have new duties related to operating school meal programs. Attendees must be school or district employees.
What?
Topics expected to be covered include PEARS, COMPASS, the School Nutrition Toolbox, Direct Certification, Eligibility Determination, Verification, Production Records, Meal Counting and Claiming, Procurement, Child Nutrition Financial Report, Paid Lunch Equity, Civil Rights, Menu Planning, Accommodating Students with Disabilities, Procurement, and USDA Foods.
Registration:
Registration deadline is October 4th, 2023 or until capacity is reached, whichever comes first. Registrants must be current sponsors of the National School Lunch Program. Registration is limited to up to 2 individuals per LEA.
Waiting List:
If more than 2 individuals per LEA would like to attend, the additional individuals should put themselves on the waiting list. If you have attended this session in the past, please put yourself on the waiting list.
Funding:
A limited number of scholarships ($200) to help cover some of the expenses related to attending this training session are available. At the registration deadline, if enough funding is available to provide scholarships for all registrants, all registrants will receive scholarships. If the number of registrants exceeds the number scholarships available at the registration deadline, scholarship recipients will be determined randomly and the number of scholarships per LEA will be limited. Scholarships will be made payable to LEAs.
