Training Opportunities for New School Food Service Directors
New School Food Service Directors and other individuals with responsibilities related to operating school meal programs can receive support and education through an orientation session series and a mentor program.
The job of a school foodservice director (SFSD) is multi-faceted and complex. It requires an understanding of state and federal regulations, financial management, nutrition, record-keeping, food production, menu planning, food safety and sanitation, customer service, purchasing, and marketing, among other topics.
